Deon Swiggs is a transformational leader bridging governance, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. Currently serving as Chairperson of Environment Canterbury and elected Councillor for Christchurch West Ward, he brings 15+ years of strategic leadership to complex challenges in climate action, disaster recovery, and sustainable development.

His journey spans remarkable diversity: from GLX Officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy to becoming one of Christchurch's youngest City Councillors (2016-2019). He founded the Rebuild Christchurch Foundation and hosted the television series "Eyes East," championing community-driven earthquake recovery.

As an entrepreneur, he launched Westgrow, a licensed medical cannabis startup grounded in kaitiakitanga principles, and established Swiggs Consulting for strategy and communications.
